Hollywood Debute!!!

The Brooklyn Navrat family is doing great. The Pediatrician appointment went fantastic. Lauren is healthy with no concerns from the Pediatrician. We really liked Dr. Pytlak. She was extremely helpful, friendly, and caring. I am proud to introduce a new and exciting way to view our lovely daughter. Please go to Yahoo.com and click on Video (it is located right above the normal search bar). Once you click on Video, then search for "LMN Baby" or "LMN Daddy". You should see a video of Daddy holding LMN and also one of LMN with her eyes open. Please let me know if the directions were ok and if you were able to view the videos. I'll continue to post more! For those of you with Dialup, it may take a while since they are large files. Also, I don't know if you can actually download the video. I'll check on that... Take care and again thank you for all of the thank you's and well wishes!!! Love, Neal, Chritine, Lauren, & Sadie

Home Coming June 21, 2006

The fledgling Navrat family came home today. Mommy, Daddy, and Lauren are doing great. The trip back from Mt. Sinai was uneventful with Lauren sleeping the entire way. Sadie is feeling a bit unsure of this new little person that has invaded her turf. She is seeking attention whenever she can get it! Lauren has been a very peacful baby so far. We keep hearing that she will "awake" soon and then we will truly know what parenting is all about! Our first Pediatrician appointment is Thursday at 12:45. I have posted a lot more pictures of Lauren on the Yahoo Photo's site. If anyone would like to view those, please send me an e-mail. I am having trouble with my Yahoo address book, so I lost a lot of people's e-mails. So, if you want to see the whole crazy photo series of little Lauren, then e-mail. If not, I will be posting little snippets of some of the beautiful pictures of our littel girl. Neal, Christine, Lauren, and Sadie

Day 2

Hey everyone. Christine and Lauren are doing amazing! Christine is feeling a lot better today. She didn't get too much sleep last night due to her roommate's baby crying all night. Lauren was an angel and didn't make much of a sound! Christine was able to get some sleep today and is feeling better. She will come home tomorrow and I am getting things ready for their arrival. Christine's Dad visited today. Lauren enjoyed meeting her Grandpa. Dick was able to fly in on Tuesday morning and spend a few hours meeting and relaxing with his new grandaughter. He brought her a boston red sox bear and is hoping she will be a red sox fan...time will tell! For everyone that has e-mailed and called with well wishes and congratulations, we thank you very much with all of our hearts! Sorry if we have not responded to e-mail or phone calls as we are a bit out of touch at the hospital. We will eventually get around to responding to everyone. Please know that we truly appreciate all of the e-mails, calls, and comments to us. You all are great friends and family and we love you all! After getting the apartment ready, I'll try to post some additional pictures. I went hog wild crazy with our new camera!!! I will aslo try to post some movies and provide a link on the blog if I can figure it all out. Take care and thank you again! Neal, Christine, and Lauren

INTRODUCING

Lauren Mason Navrat Mommy and Baby are doing well. Pictures will soon be added after the appproval of Management

The Arrival

I'm writing this from the triage room at the hospital via my treo cell phone. Christine's water sprung a slow leak so we hopped in a cab to Mt Sinai. they confirmed the water breakage and now we are being admitted. they will be inducing using pictosin or oxytosin. we arrived at around 6:30. we were admitted at 7:15. it is now 8:55 and the pictosin is starting to have an effect. contractions are starting. ill update more if I can but so far all is looking good and christine is doing great. just flipping through channels on tv right now. 12:55am update christine is doing fine now that she had an epidural and is resting. no baby yet but all is progressing nicely. she is 8cm dialated and 100percent effaced. so anytime now. before she had the epidural it was crazy painful watching her suffer. Thank god for drug!! right before she received the drugs she was experiencing what I would consider the mother of all pain! itwas extremely painful for me to watch her suffer and I know the pain she was going through was even worse. she had what was known as a titanic contraction which means the muscle contracts and stays contracted at its peak. very very painful. and then when the anethsialogists arrived to put yhe epidurral in it took them 4 tries!!! but finally withit in at around 11:45 it took about another 45 minutes for all the pain to go away. she is now restin and just said it was night and day from how it wwas before. we are now just contemplating names. signing off for now. neal 11:00am Good Morning - just woke up after arriving home at 7:30AM this morning. Our Daughter was born at 2:46AM and weighed 6 pounds 15 ounces. Christine and baby Nei La are doing great. I'm heading back to the hospital now. Our new camera hasn't arrived so these were taken with my treo phone. Note: pictures removed by management (aka mommy) more coming soon

38 weeks and 5 days

38 weeks and 5 days

Nei La is still resting peacefully in Christine’s tummy.  She seems to want to just wait it out as long as she can.  We are getting very excited to meet her but she seems to think it is safer to stay tucked away.  Christine is feeling more and more ready to be done with Pregnancy.  She is still getting around pretty good, but is definitely slowing down.  Her sleep is off and on now.  Some good nights of rest and some not so good.  She is still working full time and trying to stick it out as long as she can.  Our next appointment is on Thursday with Dr. Barbieri.

We are taking Friday off this week to start preparing our apartment for Nei La.  Our Crib, stroller, Rocker Chair, Ottoman, and Pack N Play are being delivered on Saturday.  The couch that we ordered is not expected to arrive for another two weeks which is a bummer.  It would be nice to organize everything at once!

Our roommate Sara is moving to her Sisters this weekend and will be staying their for the final two weeks of her internship.  Sara is done on July 1, 2006 and will be heading back to Minneapolis with Celia.  We will definitely miss them both.  Sara has been a wonderful roommate and such a great support to both of us over the past year.  We are very blessed to have shared our New York experience with such a great friend.  Sadie will also be very devastated to no longer have Celia around to romp and play.

We are planning to rearrange our two rooms with Christine and I moving into Sara’s room and the baby going in our room.  That is what we will be working on this Friday.

Camera News
I have been doing a lot of research over the last few days on purchasing a new Digital Camera.  Our Sony Cybershot developed a water mark that is now showing up in all of our pictures.  It causes a blurring on the upper right of each picture.  This is unacceptable!  So…I used dpreview.com, Steves-digicam.com and a few other sites to research cameras.  I was torn between an Ultra compact or a larger nicer mega zoom camera.  I ended up purchasing the Canon Powershot S2 IS which is located here : http://www.steves-digicams.com/2005_reviews/s2is.html  It cost $324 including tax and shipping.  The two other cameras that I considered that were very comparable in feature and cost were the Kodak Easyshare P850 and the Sony Cybershot H2.

For UltraCompact the Canon Powershot SD series of cameras are loaded with features.  If I chose to go with the UltraCompact I would have purchased the Canon Powershot SD600 or Sony SD700.  A review on the Powershot SD600 is located here http://www.steves-digicams.com/2006_reviews/sd600.html

Oh, and if anyone was wondering why they have not received an invite to our Photos on Yahoo, it is because I haven’t finished uploading and arranging them yet.  I’ll start inviting people ASAP!

I think that is it for now.  Take Care everyone.

Picture Sharing Storage Dilemma

Picture Sharing & Storage Dilemma

Hello everyone.  I have been struggling with trying to find the best solution to share our photos with everyone.  In an earlier blog, I thought I found the answer in Flickr, which was purchased by Yahoo last year.  In order to really use Flickr, you need to pay about $24/year.  What that gets you is the ability to add more “picture folders” and more bandwidth.

In the last week, Yahoo turned my world upside down by adding all of the functionality in Flickr into a FREE photo sharing service.  I have been testing it over the last day and it works very nicely.  It is just as easy to use as Flickr (if not easier) and two other benefits over Flickr include…. It’s FREE and you have the ability to add unlimited folders and bandwidth.  So, you can take ALL of your photos that are stored on your computer/discs and load them to Yahoo.  This can be used as a wonderful backup system or for sharing with friends and family.  Like Flickr, Yahoo provides the ability to pick whether you want the photos Private (only you invite other Yahoo members to view), Public (every Yahoo user can see them) or Friend the pictures (this feature allows you to invite individuals and those individuals can invite their friends to view the pictures).

So, for all of you that joined Flickr because I invited you and created a Yahoo account, you can use your Yahoo ID to instead load the pictures onto Yahoo.  Both Flickr and Yahoo require each user to invite friends to view your album.  So, if I invited you to view our album and you want to have me view yours, you still need to invite me.  E-mail or call me if that doesn’t make sense.

Now for the crazy feature… Christine and I have Tivo and it is hooked up to our home network and the Internet.  Tivo has been coming out with great partnership agreements with music companies and now Yahoo.  You can now enter your Yahoo ID onto Tivo and access all of your Photos that Yahoo stores for you through your TV.  This means if Kristin (my sister) loads her pictures onto Yahoo Photo and I load mine, and we both invite each other to share our photo albums, then we can both access ALL of our pictures through TIVO and watch them directly on our television sets!  You can have them running as a Slide Show on your TV.  This is a great feature!

I think I am going to start using Yahoo Photo, which can be accessed on Yahoo.com and then click on Photo.

Sorry for being inconsistent but there are just so many cool innovative things going on in the Internet space that it is hard to keep up!

38 Weeks

Quick update: We just returned from our 38-week appointment and I am currently 3 cm dilated and 60% effaced. The doc said that her head was “very, very low” and that we could be meeting our new ‘little one; as early as the upcoming weekend. I am still feeling ok and working (outside of the peeing every 30-minute nuisance). We are getting excited! Bags are packed and we are ready for the taxi ride to Mount Sinai Hospital!!
