Announcing: Samuel Dennis Navrat

Samuel Dennis Navrat
Samuel Dennis Navrat was born on Friday, December 21, 2007 at 2:34AM.  He weighed in at 5 pounds 12 ounces with a reach of 19 inches.   Mommy and baby are doing well, just a bit tired. Big Sister Lauren came to visit with Pappy and Grandma Sue.  Grandpa Dick also visited, so Sam was surrounded by love.
Big Sister Lauren said "Baby Samuel" and also gave Sam a big Kiss.  We are extremely happy to have this wonderful new baby and can't wait to get him home.  Christine will be discharged tomorrow (Sunday).
Lots of pictures and Video's have already been taken, but we haven't had time to get them all up yet.  They will be arriving shortly.
Thank you for all the well wishes and we'll talk to you soon.

36 weeks

I met with Dr. Barberi this morning, and i am 3 1/2 cm dilated and 70% effaced. The weight percentile of the baby dropped a bit over the past few weeks, from the 23rd to the 13th, which is a little concerning. She said that even though the percentile dropped, that the baby looks healthy and that there is no sign of distress, etc. Barberi rescheduled me for another ultrasound for the 17th, and depending on the results (if the percentage has not increased or if it stays the same), they will induce me that evening or the next morning. Grandma Sue, i know you are planning on being with us until the 19th...so there is a chance that you will be around for the big event after all! Love, Christine

First snow

Lauren received a mini mouse purse from Grandma Carol today in the mail. She LOVED it! She has been wearing it around the house all day.
We received two inches of snow today in Manhattan. Lauren wore her snowsuit for the first time.
Including moon boots!!!

Sara, Steph, and Maureen in town...

Sara, Steph, and Maureen paid us a visit on Sunday. We spent the afternoon going out to lunch and strolling through Central Park with Sadie. It was great spending time with them and catching up!!

Thanksgiving 2007

Dad and Susan joined us for Thanksgiving. We spent the morning at the Macy's day parade and the afternoon in Chinatown. The above and below pictures were taken at Ping's Seafood, an authentic Chinese restaurant. No turkey on turkey day for us!

Lauren had fun hanging out with Grandma Susie and Grandpa Dick.

Lauren has become an Ebee Baby addict (a tv show for toddlers). Every morning she wakes up and says, "EBEE!" (her new favorite word). In the above picture she is watching her show.

6 weeks and counting...

Christine went to the doctor yesterday, and her MD recommended that she drop down to 1/2 days at work. Baby-boy Navrat's head is apparently 'very low' and she is 1 cm dilated. Barberi does not want him to come this early, so she is asking her to add a few 'restrictions' to her lifestyle for the next several weeks. After a bit of 'bureaucratic hassle,' Mount Sinai agreed to the part-time status and she will be working mornings until he decides to arrive. Christine is looking forward to more LMN time and a few extra naps :) Dad and Susan arrive tomorrow for Thanksgiving. We are excited to see them and spend a bit of quality time together. Also hoping to catch the Macy's parade and hit Chinatown for some noodle soup...

32 week appointment

A quick update... We had our 32-week appointment this morning...all is looking good. The baby is measuring a bit small (25%), but the doctor does not seem concerned. LMN was also little...so not to worry. The good news: we do not need a c-section as the placenta has moved away from the cervix and it is no longer considered a placenta prevaria (yea!). Dr. Barberi also said that I am 1/2 cm dilated and that he is in the 'head-down' position (not breech). I asked if it is a bit early to be dilated, and she said it could mean an early, but full-term arrival (37 weeks) or it could also mean that I will be dilated for 8-plus or minus more weeks...hard to tell. We are getting excited and looking forward to the upcoming holidays!

Hummingbird at Dusk

We would very much appreciate it if you could go to http://www.picture.com/
Please do a search for Den Navrat, and vote for his hummingbird photo. Once the photo appears, click on the 'vote for my photo' icon on the left hand side of the screen. You then have the opportunity to rate the photo...please check a '10' (of course!!) at the top of the screen. If Lauren's pappy gets enough votes, he might be awarded $1,000 (enough for him to visit us in NYC!!).
Thank you!

Hallows eve...

Ta Daaa!!! Lauren had fun dressing up and hitting the town.

I think she thought it was a bit itchy at first, but quickly forgot about her dress after she was given her pumpkin basket...

The museum was fun, but VERY crowded and chaotic. LMN spent most of the time sitting on the floor counting her loot.

She got the hang of trick-or-treating pretty quickly. We are hoping she doesn't start transferring her newly found skill to boutiques off Madison Avenue :)

Pre trick-or-treat

LMN wore this kitty costume to her music class today. She looked so cute, we almost didn't change her into her official costume.
She was very excited to go out and get candy...
LMN making her tiger noise...ROAR!!!!

Happy Halloween!! (a night at the museum).

We are off to the 12th Annual Spooktacular Halloween celebration at the American Museum of Natural History in Manhattan. Lauren will be able to wander among dangerous dinosaurs, eerie elephants, and the unearthly universe when more than 30 of the museum's halls open for trick-or-treating. Pictures to come!!

As everyone knows, we love Halloween...and we wish you all were a bit closer so that we could celebrate together. We hope you have a spooky and safe evening...

Love,

Neal, Christine, and minnie mouse.

p.s. Diana and Jeron arrive tomorrow! Lauren is very excited to see her auntie and uncle!
